Our Story
Why Taylor County Swap Exists
Taylor County Swap originally began with a simple purpose: to create a place where local farmers, hobby farmers, homesteaders, and animal enthusiasts could come together to buy, sell, and trade animals while sharing their knowledge with one another.
That purpose is still at the heart of what we do, but now we want to build on it.
As a nonprofit organization, we are developing Taylor County Swap into something that can give back to the agricultural community that has supported it. We want the funds and support we receive to go back into agriculture, with a special focus on our youth and the future of farming.
Our goals include supporting 4-H and local agricultural youth, helping sponsor show animals and opportunities for kids, and creating educational classes and demonstrations covering topics such as animal care, raising livestock, processing and butchering, and the practical things many of us wish we had known when we first started.
We also want Taylor County Swap to remain a place where people can simply talk, learn from one another, make connections, and pass agricultural knowledge on to the next generation.
Our board and volunteers already contribute their own time, supplies, farm products, and resources to make these events happen. Business sponsorships allow us to take some of that burden off our volunteers and put more resources directly toward the farmers, families, and kids we are here to serve.
We aren't building Taylor County Swap to make a profit. We're building it so we can give back.
